Turn Codex CLI output into a link
Add MintPage to ~/.codex/config.toml and Codex can turn any plan, report or summary into a live link with one publish_page tool call.
Codex writes long things in a terminal: implementation plans, what-changed summaries, security reviews, migration notes. A terminal is the wrong place to leave them. MintPage gives Codex a publish_page tool so the output becomes a URL you can paste into Slack, a PR, or an email.
Connect Codex
# ~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.mintpage]
url = "https://mintpage.ai/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "MINTPAGE_KEY"
Then export your key (export MINTPAGE_KEY=mp_…) and ask: "publish this as a page and give me the link." Codex calls publish_page and returns a URL.
Skip bearer_token_env_var to use guest mode: no key, no account, pages last 24 hours. A free key from /start makes them last 7 days and unlocks stats; Pro ($5/month or $39/year) makes them permanent with custom slugs.
Codex can also add the server for you: codex mcp add mintpage --url https://mintpage.ai/mcp. Codex ships with MCP support for HTTP servers; MintPage is a plain streamable-HTTP server with no OAuth, so a bearer key is all it needs.
Good uses
- Plan review. Ask Codex for an implementation plan, publish it, and get sign-off from a teammate before it touches the repo.
- Session summaries. After a long run, "summarize what you changed and why, then publish it" leaves a link in the PR description.
- Generated docs. Architecture notes or an onboarding guide written from the codebase, refreshed later with
update_pageat the same URL.
Example call
{"name":"publish_page","arguments":{"title":"Auth refactor — plan","content":"# Plan\n\n1. Extract token validation\n2. Add refresh endpoint\n3. Migrate sessions","theme":"ink","byline":"Drafted by Codex"}}
What stays safe
Pages are public to anyone with the link, and the tool description tells the agent never to publish secrets. HTML is sanitized (no scripts, forms or iframes) and served with a strict Content-Security-Policy. Delete a page any time with delete_page.
FAQ
Does it work in the Codex IDE extension and the desktop app? Yes. They read the same config.toml, so one entry covers the CLI, the VS Code extension and the app.
Can Codex update a page instead of making a new one? Yes: update_page keeps the URL and replaces the content, which is how a living status page works.
Is there a size limit? Guest pages up to 250 KB, free keys 1 MB, Pro 2 MB. Markdown and sanitized HTML are both accepted.
Try it in one line
No account needed. Pages last 24 hours as a guest, 7 days with a free key, forever on Pro.
